Have you ever wanted to drink your beer and eat it, too? Whip up a loaf of this quick bread, and you’ll be good to go. It really is lovely to make your own bread; you know what ingredients go into it, your home will smell amazing as the bread is baking, and you get to enjoy a warm slice practically right from the oven. If you drink a beer while making this particular bread, it’ll be the most delicious full-circle beer experience you’ve ever had.

On another note, while any beer will work {it’s the yeasty goodness that helps the bread get a good rise}, darker brews, like stouts, porters, or brown ales, will lend a hearty flavour that just can’t be beat.

Cheers to beers, friends!

Beer Me Bread
Makes 1 loaf

INGREDIENTS:
2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup whole-wheat flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons coconut or brown sugar
1 {341ml} bottle dark beer {porter, stout, or brown ale}
¼ cup unsalted butter, melted

INSTRUCTIONS:
Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit and grease a standard-sized loaf pan; set aside.

In a large bowl, sift flours, baking powder, and salt. Whisk in sugar and then pour in the beer and melted butter. Mix just until combined, and transfer to the prepared loaf pan.

Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the crust is nice and golden brown. Let the loaf cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes before removing it. Serve warm with butter.
